How to Add Address Autocomplete to Gravity Forms

Typing out a full street address is one of the most friction-heavy things you can ask someone to do on a form. This guide shows you how to add Google-powered address suggestions to any Gravity Forms address or text field in about five minutes, with no Google API key required.

Why address fields need autocomplete

Address fields have some of the highest per-field abandonment rates of any form element. Users have to switch mental gears from clicking to typing a long, structured string they know they might get wrong. Autocomplete removes that friction: the user types two or three characters, selects their address from the dropdown, and the field fills in correctly.

Beyond form completion, autocomplete also means cleaner data. Addresses entered through Google Places are standardized, which matters if you're feeding that data into a CRM, shipping workflow, or address-based report in Google Sheets.

What you need

The FormFroggy Address Autocomplete plugin proxies all Google Places API calls through FormFroggy's servers, so you don't need your own Google API key. You need a FormFroggy account with an Address Autocomplete subscription (or a free trial), and a WordPress site running Gravity Forms.

Step 1: Start your Address Autocomplete trial

Log in to your FormFroggy dashboard. On the Overview tab, you'll see the Address Autocomplete product card. Click Start free trial. Your trial activates immediately and runs for 7 days with no credit card required.

Step 2: Download the plugin

Go to the Downloads tab and select Address Autocomplete from the sub-tabs. Download the plugin zip. You'll also see your license key displayed inline in the setup steps, copy it now so you have it ready.

Step 3: Install the plugin in WordPress

In your WordPress admin, go to Plugins, Add New, Upload Plugin. Upload the zip file you downloaded and activate the plugin.

Step 4: Enter your license key

In WordPress, go to Forms, Settings, and then FormFroggy Address Autocomplete. Paste your license key and save. The plugin validates the key against your FormFroggy account and autocomplete goes live immediately.

Step 5: Verify on a form

Open any page on your site that has a Gravity Form with an Address field. Start typing a street address. You should see a dropdown of Google Places suggestions appear after the first few characters. Click one and the address field fills in automatically.

Enabling autocomplete on plain text fields

By default the plugin activates on all Gravity Forms Address fields automatically. If you have a plain text field you want to use for address capture, you can enable autocomplete on it by adding the CSS class ff-ac-address to that field in the Gravity Forms field editor under the Advanced tab.

Managing which sites have autocomplete enabled

From the FormFroggy dashboard Sites tab, you can toggle Address Autocomplete on or off per site. Your plan determines the maximum number of sites you can enable, and you can add or switch sites at any time.
